Many patients wish to book ahead and see a particular GP or ANP, or they need to be reviewed on a regular basis – for chronic illnesses. There are prebookable appointments for each Doctor and ANP up to 4 weeks in advance, with ANP’s having appointments from 8am each day. We offer online booking for GP and ANP appointments as well. It makes booking and cancelling appointments easier as you have access 24/7 via an app on your mobile. Please contact reception if you would like to register for this service.
Urgent 'On-The-Day' Appointments
Our Triage Nurse will be available every day between the hours of 9:00 am and 10:30 am to speak to patients who feel that they need an urgent appointment for that day. Patients will call the surgery and their name and contact number will be taken for our Triage Nurse to call the patient back to determine the right person to see them. It might be a GP, Advanced Nurse Practitioner or the Practice Nurse.
Not all Doctors or ANP’s work every day and if you wish to see a particular Doctor or ANP you may have to wait for a suitable appointment. Annual leave and study leave can affect the number of available appointments.
The surgery will be closed every Wednesday between the hours of 1.00pm and 2.00pm for staff training purposes. Only emergencies will be dealt with during that hour.
Out-with these hours, weekends and public holidays, the practice has an arrangement with NHS 24. Please contact NHS 24 on 111 or access general medical information on the NHS 24 Website . If you use a textphone or are deaf or hard of hearing, you can call on 18001 08454 24 24 24.
All doctors have bookable in advance telephone consultations on the days they consult. These appointments are ideal to discuss medication, results and hospital letters. Please be aware these appointments are for 5 minutes only and the Doctor does not have time to discuss anything else.
When booking these appointments you will be required to give the telephone number the GP will be able to contact you on. They will try to contact you twice at the allocated time and if you are unavailable, they will not call back again. You will be required to make another appointment.
Requesting a Home Visit
Normally, we would expect you to come to us. If, however, you cannot visit us, a house visit can be arranged. For a visit the same day, please call the surgery before 10.30 am and your request will be added to the triage column. You will receive a call back to discuss the reason for the request and if a house visit is suitable. There are very few situations in which a visit to the surgery would harm you or your child.
If something serious or life threatening occurs, eg, heart attack or stroke, please call 999. Minor accidents will be dealt with according to the severity of the injury. In the event you cannot contact the surgery, dial 999 and ask for an ambulance.
